Over the weekend of January 25th, the Rotary Club of Austin hosted their 37th Annual Camp Enterprise, a camp that gives juniors from high schools all around the Austin area valuable entrepreneurial skills. Students were nominated by their school counselors and then interviewed by Rotary Club of Austin members to see if they had what it takes to earn the privilege of attending this camp. Four juniors were selected from St. Andrew’s: Brandon Farber, Amarion Hall, George Moore, and Cole Morehead.

Camp Enterprise was held at Camp Buckner, in Burnet, Texas, and featured a number of speakers like Jonathan Coon (Founder of 1-800 Contacts and co-creator of Napoleon Dynamite), Julia Cheek (CEO of Everly Well), and Gay Gaddis (Founder of T3 and author of Cowgirl Power: How to Kick Ass in Business and Life).

The main goal of the camp was to create a product or service, and pitch it to a group of investors in the style of Shark Tank, and the winning team would pitch their idea to the entire Rotary Club the following Tuesday. Fifteen teams of six were randomly assigned, and the teams had to nominate their CEO, CFO, CMO, and other positions. Brandon Farber was the Vice President of Sales for SenSafe, "Our intent was to save children or animals locked in dangerously hot or cold vehicles." Amarion Hall was the CEO of BE, an app unifies the vacation experience by helping consumers book their vacations from start to finish. George Moore was the CEO of Magnepure, a service that cleans oil spills using magnets to separate the oil from the water. Cole Morehead was the Chief Marketing Officer of Air Necessities, a portable, multi-scent essential oil air freshener.

Despite not winning the grand prize, the St. Andrew’s students made new friends, business connections with the Rotarians at the camp, and received essential entrepreneurial advice and skills.
